Fee for a standard birth, death, marriage, replacement change of name or single status certificate.

Commemorative birth certificate

Note. You cannot use a commemorative certificate for official purposes, such as proof of identity. If you need a certificate for official purposes, apply for a standard birth certificate.

Deed Poll certificate

Note. If you changed your name after October 1986, do not apply for a Deed Poll certificate. Instead, you need to apply for either a standard birth certificate (if born in Victoria) or a replacement change of name certificate (if born outside Victoria).

Abridged birth or death certificate

Note. These certificates contain less information that the standard birth or death certificates, and may not be accepted by all organisations. We recommend you contact the organisation you need to provide the certificate to, before applying for an abridged certificate.

Name change registration

Note

• Includes standard certificate fee of $28.60.
• Name change registration fee of $64.90 is non-refundable.

Alteration of sex in the Victorian birth register

Note

• Includes standard certificate fee of $28.60.
• Alteration of sex registration fee of $64.90 is non-refundable.

Recognised details certificate

Fee for a certificate recognising a non-Victorian born person's sex change.

Addition of registrable information

Fee to add information to a Victorian birth record (e.g. father's details, same-sex parent's details or parents' marriage details).

Application for information held in the Central Register

Note. There is no fee for access to information held in the Voluntary Register.

30 days or more before your wedding date

Note. BDM will refund your ceremony fee, but not the $135.00 booking fee.

Less than 30 days before your wedding date

Note. BDM will not issue any refund.

Shortening your notice period

Fee to marry less than one month after giving your notice of intent to marry.

Note

• This fee is non-refundable.
• BDM will not consider an application to shorten your notice period unless it meets exceptional circumstances (external link).

Application to register a relationship

Note

• Fee applies to both domestic and caring relationship registration.
• The $193.00 registration fee is non-refundable.
• Does not include certificate fee.

Standard relationship certificate

Fee for a standard domestic or caring relationship certificate.

Commemorative relationship certificate

Note

• BDM only issues commemorative certificates for domestic relationship registrations.
• You cannot use a commemorative certificate for official purposes, such as proof of event. If you need a certificate for official purposes, apply for a standard relationship certificate.

Revocation of a relationship registration

Note

• The $64.90 revocation fee is non-refundable.
• Does not include certificate fee.

• You will only be charged for the number of results screens you view.
• Each screen contains up to 20 records.

Fee for an historical birth, marriage or death certificate.

Uncertified historical image

Fee for an uncertified image of an historical birth, marriage or death certificate.

Note

• The information on an uncertified image is identical to the information on an historical certificate for the same event.
• You can purchase uncertified images while searching the online indexes.
• You can also purchase uncertified images separately online or by mail; you must provide the registration number and registration year of the birth, marriage or death for the image you want.
• You cannot use an uncertified image for official purposes.
