Where a person is required to lodge a certified copy of a document for the purpose of obtaining a service from the Registry, and the document is not written in English, the person must lodge at the same time, a certified translation of the document into English. The translation must be by an approved translator.

For the purposes of this policy, an approved translator is a translator accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI), Level 3 and above.

The Registrar may accept a document submitted as evidence if it is not translated by an accredited translator, if the Registrar considers the document satisfactory for the purpose of assessment.
