My name is Jessica Dudley, and I'm a very proud Wardandi/ Bibbilmun woman from Perth, working off country as the Aboriginal Relationships Officer at Births, Deaths and Marriages.
Every day is definitely rewarding for me, being able to work with my own community, and working with my people to help Aboriginal customers obtain their birth certificate, obtain a marriage certificate or death certificate.
I think it's really important having someone who lives and breathes community.
Being born and bred in Melbourne, knowing this community very well, also knowing the other communities well around the state, just helps break down those barriers for me to be one foot in community and one foot in government.
Just for community to know that there's someone in this role to assist with BDM services as an Aboriginal person.
