For your child’s Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity to be included on their birth record, one of the parents must identify themselves as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander on the birth registration. This information does not appear on certificates.

Confirmation of Aboriginality

Contact your local Aboriginal Land Council or Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation if you need a Confirmation of Aboriginality. They are responsible for providing Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity.
