The number of guests you can invite depends on the room you have booked:

  • The Margaret Craig Room holds up to 55 guests plus the couple (57 in total)
  • The Thomas Hyde Room holds up to 8 guests plus the couple (10 in total).

For health and safety reasons, the rooms cannot hold more than these numbers.

Ask your guests to arrive 10 minutes before your ceremony. Please let them know that the venue does not have a waiting area for guests who arrive early.

Food and drink is not permitted in the venue. A water fountain is available in the wedding party waiting room if needed.

Disabled access

Disabled access is available at the rear of Old Treasury Building.

To arrange access, please contact us prior to the date of your ceremony. This is so we can make sure a staff member can:

  • Meet you or your guests at that entrance
  • Usher you through the museum to the Victorian Marriage Registry.

No parking is available at the venue.

This includes disabled parking.

Animals

Only assistance animals, such as guide dogs, are permitted in the venue.

Confetti, rice and rose petals

Please ask your guests not to:

  • Throw confetti, rice or rose petals
  • Use balloons or bubble-blowers

Photography

You may organise your own professional photographer. Guests are also welcome to take photographs and videos throughout the ceremony.

The Old Treasury Building is a beautiful photographic setting. The steps outside the Old Treasury Building provide a dramatic back-drop. The Treasury Gardens next door also offer a beautiful photographic environment.

Professional photographers can stand and move around the room during the ceremony. Your photographer is not included in the number of guests.

For health and safety reasons, keep doorways clear at all times.

Video calls

You are welcome to connect to family and friends via Skype, Facetime, etc. However, there is no wi-fi or streaming facilities or equipment at the venue.

Celebrating after your wedding

The Old Treasury Building does not have dining facilities. However, the venue is close to city restaurants, bars and hotels for celebrations after your ceremony.

Personal items

Please ensure you take all personal items with you after your ceremony. Our rooms are used throughout the day, with many couples and their guests passing through. This means we cannot be responsible for items lost, damaged or left behind.
