- Typographical errors
- Misread handwriting.
- Clarifications and amendments such as:
- Place of birth (for example, adding the town where only the country is listed)
- Adding a middle name (for example, when it's on the birth registration statement but not on the birth certificate).
We assess all corrections before making them.
Correct a birth certificate
If there's an error on a birth certificate, you can apply to have it corrected.
Correct a change of name
If there's an error on your change of name certificate, you can apply to have it corrected. There's no fee to do this.
Correct a death certificate
Correct the death details such as date, place or cause, and add domestic partners.
Correct a marriage certificate
Correct details of either of the partners, such as their name, date or place of birth.
Correct a recognised details certificate
If there's an error on a recognised details certificate, you can apply to have it corrected.
