We are prioritising critical certificate or registration requests. For critical requests only:

Up to 20 people, in addition to the celebrant and couple getting married, can attend a wedding. If a wedding is held in a private residence, it will be limited to the members of the household, five attendees, plus the celebrant. The Victorian Marriage Registry is closed.

Up to 50 people can attend a funeral in addition to the person leading the funeral and other funeral staff. A funeral held in a private residence will be limited to the members of the household, five attendees, plus the person leading the funeral and other funeral staff.

When will I receive my certificate?

When you apply for a certificate or registration, we email you details of documents you need to provide. We can’t start processing until we’ve received them.

Australian bushfires

If bushfire has destroyed your identity documents, we can replace your (Victorian) certificates for free. Email bdmcritical@justice.vic.gov.au (External link) and we will help you get them as quickly as possible.
