BDM is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. We have a zero-tolerance approach for racism, gender bias, child abuse and harm.
We recognise that children’s:
- rights, relationships, identity and culture need to be respected
- voices need to be heard and valued, and
- concerns need to be taken seriously and acted upon.
We are committed to providing a child safe and child friendly environment for all children and young people who come in contact with us.
BDM will provide a culturally safe environment for:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people, and
- those from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds.
We will consider their needs in providing that environment.
Our work impacts children and young people in the following ways:
- Processing applications to register and get certificates for their:
- birth
- change of name; and
- change a record of sex.
- Outreach activities within Victorian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
